Kirsten Dunst did such an excellent job portraying the emotional void her character was slipping into that, had she been allowed more screen time to elaborate on it, it could have made this movie great. Just that last layer of revelatory insight into all of the characters in general would have made this movie truly special. Nevertheless, it is, as you say, extremely well done.
