...throw in a new outfit for good measure!I did warn you, but I ahve not seen "Forbidden Games" or "The Cranes are Flying"- "Paths of Glory" is a classic, a must-see film despite genre.
"Come and See" leaves you with too many images, most you probably never wanted to experience anyway. A very powerful film, and as far as capturing a sense of death and destruction of everything- life, honor, spirit etc- no other film I have seen comes close.
One other film set in WW2 I enjoyed is the Italian "Night of the Shooting Stars"- beautiful in places, a story told through the eyes of a young girl- your wife would probably enjoy it.
