Maybe old, but Alan Moore was so disgusted by the script, he refused to let them use his name in the credits or anywhere else. He even refused payment. (He does not own the property, so he could not prevent the movie from being made.) It eventually turned so ugly, Moore cut all ties to Warner. The movie has little relation to Moore's comic book other than name and characters. Moore did not glorify vigilantism.
But the only remarkable thing about this is that Moore refuses to bend over and let people pound away. Philip Pullman isn't happy about how The Golden Compass movie misrepresents his book. But they pay is good, so he's not complaining. And it's always the same cowardly defense: "It's Hollywood." No, it is not. Hollywood is not to blame for your lack of integrity.
