...The movie was shot 1.37 aspect ratio (Motion Picture Academy standard), in 1951. If you follow the Wikipedia link (to a dry description of film aspects), you'll get a little information. The first chapter (1.1 "practical limitations) will spell it out. Hope this isn't too boring.
