I took the occasion to see it again on the big screen before it disappeared, forever.
I did like it more, Tommy Lee didn't seem quite as cowardly. Actually, hand me a gigantic piece of that humble pie, would you?
SPOILER:
He actually DID kick into that motel room to seek out Anton: he must have been in the next room.
I also noticed that the opening remarks he made, way at the beginning of the film, prepared us for the precipitate end.
I still don't see it as a masterpiece, too many weak points. I appreciated Bardems's performance less, as I did Woody's.
Still, a pretty good film, though definitely in the second tier (at the top) of the Coen oeuvre.
