"Outpost": Nazis and bad physics = pretty good scifi

A merry band of mercenaries are dropped of in modern day Eastern Europe with a mysterious man who wants to get into a deserted bunker deep in contested territory. Once they arrive they begin to explore a large underground complex that just happened to belong to the SS. Soon they find a pile of stinking bodies and a lone, nearly catatonic survivor. That night they are beset by strange lights and a ghost-like enemy that seems invincible.

Nicely done in a semi-sepia, the film conveys a historical air even though it takes place today. The characters are believable and gifted with a gritty dialog one would expect of mercenaries. It's interesting that only Brits and Europeans utilize Nazis as boogie men in sci fi and horror. Perhaps we should use Native Americans and Yankee Soldiers.
