This is a Mike Leigh film about a 30 year old London teacher.
She is so permanently upbeat that she could easily get you down if you knew her.
But she just doesn't back down.
It is at heart a small personal film, but it opens up and the comedy dissolves into moments of genuine drama and sadness.
It's not the greatest film of all time but it is well worth watching and it is a genuine pleasure to see.
