Slightly Daunted by Satantango

Just been loaned by a 'friend'. Hungarian 'masterpiece' (no more quotes) from 1994 (Tarr), black and white and 7.5hrs long. It is thoughtfully divided into 12 chapters but if I watch it I would like to see it over a relatively short space of time instead of a one chapter per week or a 7.5 hr sitting.

Looks fascinating and certainly seems to be rated highly from a cinematographic perspective (8.9 rating in IMDB).

Any brave souls out there endured this and if so, how did you find it?
