It seems to have been on for ages and I hadn't made really any effort, but Yonnie wanted to go and so we did.
The first thing is that there were 2 types of screening.
The ordinary one and the singalong... and half the audience sang in the ordinary!
This is possibly the only film I can think of this side of Rocky Horror that could run for ever as an ongoing party.
Now... the film...
The scenery is fabulous. Greek tourism must be through the roof.
The cast are all very good and the scene of Julie Walters on the table singing.... no, I won't spoil it, but there are any number of really great song/scenes in it many of which are choreographed in what to me is a very very Bollywood style.
The sound was fabulous and the songs have survived the re-arrangements not only intact but sounding to me possibly better than the originals and I don't often say that!
There were groups there of 3 and 4 generations and all singing and laughing.
This really was the most fun film I have seen in some time.
You have to see it.
I am not a big fan of Streep, but here she could do no wrong. She looks exactly as old as she is and looks all the better for it.
The costumes... oh, just grab a gang of friends and go to see it.
It will take your mind off Sarah Palin and the dire prospect of having intelligent design taught in schools. Better they show this film on the joys of parenthood!!! No, the joy of LIFE!
