The film Peckinpah was most proud of, and the film least

butchered by the studios

"Head"'s so relentlessly dark + violent, I just don't know how he ever got away with getting that released back in the early 1970's!

This was a Quentin Tarantino film decades ahead of it's time; it went right over the head of reviewers + audiences back then ( tho' Ebert in the New Yorker called it a "strange dark Classic" )

While "The Wild Bunch" is considered Peckinpahs magnum opus, ( and Oates is in this also ) I think "Bring Me the Head" is the Peckinpah film that holds up the best of all
