Saw this yesterday and three things stand out for me.
Using a lightning bolt striking a person as a symbol for the random and chaotic nature of life/the Universe and how things can and sometimes do change in an instant.
Tilda Swinton who I think in her little role shows the difference between being an actor and a 'movie star', It would have been nice if the Swinton and the Cate Blanchett roles had been reversed. Swinton here makes me want to watch 'Orlando' again.
Thirdly, it was interesting that Brad Pitt had to get ugly and shriveled to get out of the way of his looks and do a 'serious' film.
I enjoyed the early parts of the film more than the returned from his sojourn middle/ending Benjamin where he is now Benjamin Pitt/Adonis. But this is after all a Brad Pitt movie and what would that be without Brad Pitt playing Brad Pitt.
Some good characters and an enjoyable way to spend two hours (but maybe a bit long at 2.47), perhaps this will win some Oscars as it is designed to do.
