Republican kid with a golden arm is given a chance by a US minor league team. The film is almost documentary like in showing his off-field challenges in adapting to an alien society which also doesn't know what to make of him.
It has several noticeable flaws but they're erased by the powerful performance of the lead actor and the believability of his story.
Believe me, you won't look at a Latin ballplayer the same way ever again.
