In England that wa salways The Great Escape.
We used to have a very good comedy called The Likely Lads and in one Xmas special a comment was made about TGE being shown by the BBC every Xmas day(TLL was on BBC), over the show's closing credits, the announcer calmly stated "and now our Xmas Day film, The Great Escape".
