I just found this was released lasy May by Criterion on DVD. This was filmed in towns which neigbored where I grew up and so includes many location which are vividly and indelibaly emblazoned in my memory.. Its not a bad flick either as I honestly find Robert Mitchum could pretty much make reciting the phone book intersting and I really don't know why though I suspect it is that he just reminds me of my Father. When you watch this movie you'll be seeing places I saw regularly as the environs in which I grew up.
