I love the Waterloo for the atmosphere, thick as old road tar, and general historic accuracy in all its aspects, including the troops, equipment, etc. Wellington sucked, but he was not the center of the film, so his effect on the whole was minimal.
Many have criticized Steiger, but to me he gave us the best Napoleon in cinema - and yes, I generally love that actor.
