disc 4.....about 2/3 through. It's a monumental feat and a demanding experience.
I was expecting more prominent historical context. I'm sure much detail is lost in translation.
In spite of the regard for which it is held the television production values and soap opera-ish drama show through strongly. There are some very interesting side characters: Reinhold (fascinating), Klem (very Hitler-looking), Mitse, Frau Blum.
Great truths being depicted in the psychology of relationships, especially between sexes. Also great insight into the endurance of universal political and cultural problems. One can see striking similarities between those times and now; that place and ours.
No final decisions but it drags at times.
