Unless you call $65Mil US and $102Mil worldwide bad. That's actually very good for Oscar bait, especially for the Coens. (It will probably do a few more millions in the next couple weeks. But it's pretty much done in theaters, regardless.
The Coens don't make blockbusters and the studio certainly didn't expect any such thing from an adpatation of Cormac McCarthy. Of course, with the Oscar win NCFOM should do quite well in home video.
