Note: More laughs than guilt, but since I don't care much for over-the-top bathroom humor (which extends to the puppet sex scene in Team America) that unfortunately excludes a lot of contemporary comedies. I prefer subtle repartee to gutter humor. Is that a guilt-free diet? ;O)
I suppose the guiltiest humor I laugh at would be found in the Paramount Marx Brothers comedies (mostly for Groucho's tongue & cheek innuendos), although W.C. Fields and Will Rogers can't be ignored. Of the great female comedians I like Mary Pickford's situational reactions in My Best Girl, the ironic humor of Marion Davies in Quality Street and her clever impressions in Show People, and Beatrice Lilly's perfect timing & hysterical role reversals in Exit Smiling.
