A hit at Sundance (the first film chosen apparently) and a GREAT example of how there is life in film noire when approached with imagination.
This is about a private eye hired to follow a man from Chicago to LA (that's no spoiler as he is told as much in the first scene).
The longer he follows, the more he finds out and the more he finds out the more questions need to be asked.
Michael Shannon is admirably dishevelled and the entire cast are very good (as ever with many slightly smaller budget films, half the cast have been in Law And Order).
This is a very good movie. NOT a fast movie, but one that constantly reveals a little more as our heroic gumshoe ploughs ever onward.
Conventions like voice overs seem reborn and new when handled this well.
It's a must see for everyone who likes crime fiction and a should see for everyone else.
