just a dull one. I don't think O'Neal is a bad actor but he was a poor choice for the title role. The critical reaction was almost entirely negative and its box office was poor. The film was a disappointment.
"EWS" is a film I don't like at all. Period.
Imho, "Tom Jones" is not a classic but certainly a very fine film.. It was considered rather "adult" for its time and, of course, made Albert Finney a star. Would that an actor with his power had been cast in "Barry Lyndon" instead of O'Neal.........Jeremy Irons comes to mind even though he was probably too young att.
