DVD Anime of "Blood: The Last Vampire."

I got a copy of this based on some promotional raves, but I am not sure that I have watched the whole thing. The case lists a running time of 83 min., but the feature only ran for approx. 43 min. and the story abruptly ends without providing many answers or insights. Did I see the whole thing? Is there an "Easter Egg" or something more obvious that I missed to get to a second half of the story?

The plot seems like a combination of "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" with "Vampire Hunter D", but seems too simple and enigmatic for a feature-length film. Clearly an exercise in style-over-substance.

As for the animation quality, it is not your usual Japanese anime. The backgrounds use sophisticated 3-D CGI extensively and light and shadow are major elements to the film's "look". The characters are drawn more Westernized or European than usual, reminding me of Ralph Bakshi's work, but they look too simple and two-dimensional compared to the 3-D background.
