in a forest (ans some in camps, as well). In "Katyn," the Polish director Andresz Wajda tells the story through the eyes of the women in several victims' families. This is a skillful, passionate, and dramatic telling of one of the second World War's most hideous chapters. For years, the Germans claimed the Russians were guilty of the massacre and the Russians pointed back.
This film sets the record straight but it isn't an obvious political polemic: it is a film which stands alone on its dramatic strengths and it stands very tall, indeed.
