I just saw this on the tube, complete with commercial breaks, and even so it was a great movie. I'm not a Christian Bale fan (he killed Batman), but he stepped up his game in this one. He had to, playing alongside Russell Crowe, who could get an Academy Award for just about any role he plays -- and this was a strong one.
All of the acting was great IMO. Maybe I'm not critical enough, but the movie had me drawn into it. I take that as a sign that it was superb.
This is a remake of an old and old-fashioned classic. Don't see many of this kind anymore. If you haven't see this, I recommend it highly.
If only Crowe didn't whistle for his horse at the end ...
