What an awesome program this could have been but, it is just not working for me.Some of the acting is okay (although much is stilted and amateurish) and at times the story is not too bad but IMO it just does not gel into a narrative that is enjoyable or informative...no pathos. It feels like a group of vignettes strung randomly together as though a bunch of scenes were shot and the editor picked a few at random and inserted them into the data stream.
BTW, I forgot to mention the incredibly cheesy CG effects, when I heard that DreamWorks was behind this program I thought it would be state of the art but much of it is sad. Check out the airplanes flying over the Marines in Episode IV for a truly depressing example.
I understand how hard it is to create a coherent picture of a battlefield as large as the Pacific theatre was but this IMO does not cut it.
