Coco and Igor

Chanel and Stravinsky that is.
The film covers the period of Chanel's fame and fortune and Stravinsky's journey from infamy to acceptance, taking us from immediately pre-WW1 when Europe's bourgeoisie were still trying to live in the 19th century (a bit tea potty-ish really!) and whilst Stravinsky's music was shocking to the point of police being called to stop fights at concerts (punks eat your hearts out!), Chanel was literally cutting women out of their corsets.
The cinematography is lovely and a few moments apart (IS looks unnervingly like Freddie Mercury!!!) the film is convincing in its portrayal of the times and people.
It's unlikely to be on many people's film of the year list but a very enjoyable couple of hours.

Anna Mouglalis is extremely modern looking and perhaps Chanel really did invent the modern woman, even if she is an amoral self centred genius.
