Yup, the film snob had a good time at IM2...partly because she's a rabid RD fan, partly because the film is handsomely mounted and mostly because the cast is excellent - Mickey Rourke, Garty Shandling and Sam Rockwell are a hoot. Downey is brilliant...again. It's as logical as any other comic book movie...and I tend to think most of 'em have been way over-praised. There is just a bit too much Nick Fury stuff re the next franchise shoveled in there. A minor sin IMO. Scarlett Johansson looks great but I want more Pepper! Cheadle is good as the new Rhodey
The first one was a charming surprise, no one was expecting it to be as good as it was, and origin stories are inherently appealing. IM2 is a middle chapter. Favreau isn't brilliant at staging big action scenes, but he's good at getting at character motivations. I like that he has Tony Stark addicted not to alcohol but to being The Iron Man Hero. And I loved Favreau as Happy Hogan. It's big and noisy but IM2 isn't DUMB.
FX are cool. Very Cool.
It ain't Shakespeare but it's fun and the A-list actors are all on. Go see it and have a good time - don't worry about the nay-sayers
