The first film of a cartoonist ( Le Chat du Rabin among many ) is a mixed bag.
It goes from the indecision of what way to choose to portrait the French poet and song writer, to the simple copy of some of his video.
You have to know a little about the hero, to appreciate.
The second half get much more emotional and ergo, better.
Sfar show us, or want to, show Gainsbourg not truth but lying.
