Hi chaps
Anyone seen Valhalla Rising (2009), starring Mads Mikkelsen?
I just watched it (on Blu-Ray of course) and I don't really know what to make of it. It's part meditation in the vein of The New World (Malick), part supernatural fantasy and part uber gore-fest. Either way, I found it strangely magnificent.
Mikkelsen is the star, but he never says a word (he doesn't really need to as his steely gaze and pained expression does all the speaking for him). He plays a slave whose main hobby seems to be disembowelling people. Then he goes on a trip with some bearded Scottish dudes. I won't give any more away, mainly because I don't know WTF actually happens after that point :-)
I recommend this movie for anyone who wants something different from the usual Hollywood formula schlock. I advise Vic to avoid it because I don't want him to have a stroke.
