You don't come across them very often, and "Caramel" was actually suggested by the Netflix, based on I do not know what criteria. Our son-in-law is half-lebanese, so somehow it meshed, as I was going through the list, and I don't regret it.
It turned out to be a quite nice film, in parts actually well made, even if somewhat corny at times. I know we all need to maintain our macho manly image, but sometimes we have women watching movies with us, and for such occasions Caramel will work like a charm - giving you some extra credit, I am sure.
It is disheartening that while having a huge movie industry in this country, most good movies do come from other places, some as tiny and underdeveloped as Lebanon... something they obviously know that we have long forgotten.
