I swear I am not specifically seeking out Yugoslavian films... they just seem to be sticking to me these days... so here is yet another one - Spare Parts. OK, I am using the term Yugoslavian loosely here, as this one is really Slovenian. Some of you might remember Peter Musevski as well played father in Slovenian Girl... aka "A Call Girl". He has that quiet and assuring presence, his demeanor radiates the sense of decency.
Then what on Earth is he doing in Spare Parts, running human trafficking ring? Can a good person be committing such deplorable acts, knowing full well what fate awaits some of those unfortunate people he carries across the Italian border in his van?
It was difficult for me to step over that conflict. Even harder it was to see his young partner continue in that awful trade, after showing some undeniably human traits.
You might like that film... you might write it off as the product of movie industry that still has long way to maturity, but I think it is worth a look.
