I saw this move when I was a teenager and had very fond memories so I started looking for a DVD on the internet and was able to find a guy at iOffer that sells the DVD. Although I know it's not an official studio release, I purchased it anyway.
I received it yesterday, and I have to say that my 35 or so year old memory of the movie was pretty good. It's a very good survival/adventure movie with some good characters and a very fine performance from Stuart Whitman. I think the story was actually moved along a little too quickly, as there could have been some additional character development. Most particularly I would have enjoyed it if more effort would have been invested in O'Brien prior to his final scene with the doctor.
Despite some obvious shortcomings, this film held up quite well to my memories and is worth seeking out.
