How do they do it! They can drag your emotions right down to the level of the performers. This was a tenderized version of "Scenes from a Marriage" done by Danes adding in a variety of secrets to uncover.
Mads Mikkelson and his wife Stine Stengade leave Denmark by train to fetch his dead father's body in Prague. Mads' father abandoned him when he was twelve and saw him one other time when he was fifteen. Once they arrive at their hotel in Prague family secrets start to slip out one by one causing emotional rage and disillusionment. Mads finds out things about his wife, his father, the lawyer handling the estate, the house he inherits, and the beautiful young singer living there with her daughter. They all seem to get what they deserve in an understated Scando kind of way.
Highly recommended. Great performances, lot of real-life twists, and no clear cut happy ending just like in real life.
