"Based on true events in 1998 and 1999."Jesse is living in NYC, living with his tight family, working with dad at the fabric shop, studying to be a Rabi, and in love with the Jewish hottie who lives down the street. He's a sharp kid with an eye for money and when he is turned down for the hand of the hottie he shifts gears and slowly becomes absorbed into a Jewish smuggling ring bringing ecstasy from Amsterdam to NYC.
He learns the ropes from his next door neighbor (who has long forsaken the Hasidim way) and becomes slowly fixed on Boss Jackie's squeeze.
The constant play of classic Jewishness clashing against Goy culture is quite amusing as Jesse loses himself and is tossed out of his family by his traditional father leading to more crisis of faith.
Finally, in the end, Boss Jackie branches out into other drugs at the request of local dealers and the couriers unwittingly bring in drugs the dogs can smell. It does not end well for all concerned.
My favorite line: "Everybody here is a Jew except for one Goyem. Forget about him because God already has."
