A Norwegian dark comedy directed by Hans Petter Moland starring Stellan SkarsgÄrd in a fabulous deadpan portrayal of ex-con Ulrik who has just been released from 12 years in prison for murder. Reluctant to go along with his past criminal cronies with a plan for him to seek vengeance against the man that put him in prison, Ulrik would rather settle down to a quiet and normal life and develop a relationship with his estranged grown son. What ensues in his conflicted quest for normalcy is both hilarious and sad. A great cast of quirky characters and humorous writing lend support to a film that will appeal to fans of the Coen Brothers. I thought it was great. Available on DVD.
