A doctor's family filled with love and affection is torn apart by the kidnapping of their only daughter. Found nearby she had been raped and murdered. The DNA evidence clearly pointed to the killer who was quickly taken into custody to await trial and a sure conviction.
That wasn't good enough for Bruno. He wanted more than a 25 years sentence for the killer. He craved real vengeance and felt he owed it to his beloved daughter. He took some time off from his surgical duties and devoted his energies and intellect to devising a plan to extract the pound of flesh he needed so badly.
This French-Canadian noir brings us into a hell of grief and despair that shows us how far a man will plan for revenge then execute it. This film is darkened by showing us an occasional level of violence most could not commit. We also see the torturer becomes as tortured as his victim and that his actions are destroying what's left of his family and his life.
Certainly not for everyone yet the technical aspects of the film are terrific and include a sympathetic police detective, a wife whose life has been shattered, and another victim strangely drug into the spider's web of revenge.
