This could be interesting:Director Joe Wright is making Anna Karenina from a screen adaptation by Tom Stoppard.
The cast includes some favorite thespians: Keira Knightley (Anna), Jude Law (Karenin), Matthew MacFadyen (Oblonsky), Kelly Macdonald (Dolly), Olivia Williams (Countess Vronskaya), Saoirse Ronan (Kitty), Aaron Johnson (Anna’s lover, Vronsky), Andrea Riseborough (Princess Betsy) and Domhnall Gleeson (Levin).
Films this fall in UK and Russia for Working Title Films.
I loved Wright's version of Pride & Prejudice and liked Atonement, as well as the TV mini-series The Last King (with Rufus Sewell). He typically does well with literary adaptations and of course Stoppard doing the screenplay is a big plus. Wright's recent hit Hannah was mostly a crock, but it was beautifully made, very stylish crock.
Your trivia tidbit for the day: Saoirse Ronan turned down a part in Jackson's The Hobbit to be in Anna.
