That French film, "36th Precinct:" you'd expect a film starring

both Auteil and Depardieu, arguably the two most popular Gallic stars for the past several decades, would feature good writing. At least passable writing? This police thriller deserved its rapid descent into the "forgotten file." Police films need not be absolutely true-to-life to be successful. Yet, when every plot turn is more and more ridiculous, when cops ALL go against basic training and common sense (the cop kidnapping), and when there is not ONE riveting scene between these two arch-rivals---- well, you know it's a fatally flawed mess. It's hard to believe anyone that has seen "Heat" or "Ronin" or any one of a dozen other films could even rate this as a popcorn film. It's a travesty and a massive waste of time. Did I mention it goes on for at least 45 minutes, unnecessarily?
