Two genres pressing against one another for center stage as both mean business.I like the way the script is calibrated to accomodate this premise: alien footprints are tracked, men, horses and supplies are gathered, and faith is on equal footing with technology in fighting the enemy.
The western aspect also slows down the action sci-fi, giving it pause to provide human reflection rather than quickly filling the frame with another special effects sequence.
A serious film and highly recommended.
