and I saw it this afternoon. Well, Terrence's unmistakable style was in full attendance and I pretty much like the film with the exception of . .The creation/evolution sequence..WTF was that? It just wasn't making a point and it interrupted the flow of the film. Halfway through it I saw an elderly couple stagger to the exit. It was too much for maw and paw. If that had been cut I would buy a copy in a flash.
Now, Malick nailed the post WW2 childhood. It was so chock full of "snapshots" of my generation's struggles growing up. I see this film as an "experiential bridge" to the younger generations of how their parents and grandparents lived and loved.
Ditch the creation and dinosaurs and get on with the Malick snapshot album of life in "idyllic America"...the one that didn't exist.
