moves you'd want and very attractive leads (the-almost-pretty Sam Riley and Andrea Something-or-Other). It even has two seasoned and talented Brit superstars, Mirren and (John) Hurt. The violence is excessive, frequent, and gory. It is also superficial, cartoonish, and it makes of its central character a man so hideous that you hope and pray for his hideous demise.
Richard Attenborough was fascinating in the original, which was entertaining. Recently, it was redone and I just missed its theatrical performance in Portland. Sadly, it is not available on Netflix, just yet. It is a classic of British noir. The remake is a ham-handed mess.
