Yeah, the acting hoss power is enough to strangle the nomination ballots: Hoffman, Giamatti, Clooney, even Gosling. This was high drama with curious links to our political not-so-past.
I found it intriguing that this"leftie" produced movie had references to the iconic Obama graphics and posters calling attention to our last presidential crusade. The campaign rhetoric of "the people first". The "anti-Oil" promises. The tangled personal relationships. The behind the scenes chicanery....and the Machiavellian actions of all involved.
The ladies may see Gorgeous George on the marquee but this was a Gosling movie. I hope they aren't too disappointed that George isn't a full time presence....no more than Bill Clinton.
This film is a political Rorschach and you will probably draw from it exactly what pleases you the most. Very entertaining and gripping at times.
