Welcome to the new millennium's "Glengarry Glen Ross". Only here a set of steak knives looks good while all around you are falling like flies. This is well-crafted Wall Street drama that takes a shot at loosely explaining "the meltdown" and how it occurred. The mechanics and technical details of the implosion are explained in somewhat obscure terms but you still feel like you're riding atop the lead Panzer in the financial Blitzkrieg that was 2008.
We see all forms of carefully crafted corporate personalities jockeying for position, playing the blame game, and exercising self-loathing. Those of you who have ridden an elevator to work will recognize, revel in, and loath each one presented to you as the story unfolds. This film not only tells us how it happened but just the kind of people who made it happen and that is the strength of the film.
