Every now and then it makes sense to leave the current events behind, if just for a couple of hours, and switch to something very different.
De Sica's world is always engulfing, and Matrimonio all'italiana is no exception. Not too real - you say? Who cares, when you have a chance to once again witness the wonderful duo - people of my age still remember how their every new work was received. Sophia Loren is still with us, albeit for some strange reason not too appreciated by many female viewers... but the Great Marcello is long gone, having left us with an unmistakable sense of style, dignity and humor.
Contrary to popular beliefs, Divorce, Italian Style is not a sister film, sharing not much more than the lead actor and the language... but also quite recommended.
