Not having seen it since its release, I re-watched it recently. I really wanted to like it, but it's stuck in first gear and just doesn't go anywhere. It's like Scorcese knows what needs to be done in his own mind, but can't figure out how to do it. Who knows.

BTW, I've been underwhelmed by Criterion's recent releases, including those announced up to April this year.
