Released yesterday with nearly 40 additional minutes of reinserted footage the untitled version of director Cameron Crowe's semi-autobigraphical film is an even more engrossing experience than the theatrical release version. The added footage doesn't slow the pace of the film, but it allows the viewer to know the characters and understand the character's motivations better. For instance, quirkiness aside, William's mother (portrayed by Frances McDormand) seems a little less peculiar and much more logically parental in the extended version. Note: Be sure to catch the humorous "Stairway" outake on Disc 2.If you liked this movie in it's original release, this is a must have in your DVD collection, IMHO. Furthermore, if you love classic rock and haven't seen Almost Famous yet, I strongly recommend renting or buying this new director's cut edition soon; it has both the theatrical release version and the "Untitled" version presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic transfers. You won't be disappointed, I assure you.
