group of actors, what absolutely fantastic ensemble acting.
Like other commentators (sjb and Vic), I'll single out the daughter though the scene in the hospital had too quick a 180 for me. Still, she was so natural in a role that an American like Angelina Jolie would have played as overwrought that I expect to run into her at a bar someday.
The eponymous Mom was great, too, as was the father. It takes great skill and power to let the small acts define a character and both of them are master miniaturists.
So, why aren't I more enthusiastic about the film?
Actually, as I type this and think more upon it, I am appreciating it more.
I'm sure it will grow in my estimation after I see it again, though I'll delay that until I see "The Return" again.
