Spoilers & Comments

I read the books and saw the movies. Of course in order to increase quality time with my teen-aged daughter. In the last book, there is an epic vampire battle being set up, and frankly, I was really looking forward to it. It kept me going through all the mush of them getting married etc. The author seemed to have a grasp that she couldn't just write all mush, like she knew she had to please any males reading the stuff.

Anyways, after setting the scene for an epic vampire battle, it is resolved without a fang being bared. I nearly threw the book across the room. I was highly disappointed to say the least and really felt cheated.

I read later that the author just couldn't let herself write a battle, for there would be deaths, and some would have to be the "good guys." So she simply wrote a solution without any battle.

I was really curious what they would do in the movie, for I knew if they didn't have the massive battle in the movie, people would really be mad.

Much to my delight, there was a massive battle in the final movie and sure enough, lots of dead, even some of the good guys. I was pleasantly shocked and enjoyed the surprise. Then after the epic battle, there was an amazing resolution that I'm sure the author said "Doh!" to herself as a clean way of resolving the reader bloodlust vs. the author's love for her characters.
