admit that I can't find a lot to fault: yes, it's melodrama, but it has a terrific set of characters and there are enough subplots to keep you interested, but not confused.
The level of acting is just plain excellent: why can't we produce male actors that don't all look like wimps? Or women that can speak the language w/out slurring in monotones?
How refreshing that the English acting traditions continue. Ours, alas, perished w/the great generation of actors now mostly in their sixties.
