A film of the most revered Persian love story is presented to an audience of renowned actresses. The camera only records their faces during the performance, keeping its "back" to the screen. We indirectly follow the story by reading the dialogue, but truly the joy of this film is having the story told through the half-lit faces of the actresses as they react to the images.
Iran's Abbas Kiarostami again proves he's a master of originality, invention, and poetry: many of these faces are drop-dead gorgeous, all are evocative and haunting.
