Alain leaves Belgium with his young son in tow not knowing what to do next. He arrives at his sister's and begins work as a bouncer where he meets Stephanie as a result of an altercation. Their story begins to build on sudden tragedy and the eventual need they have for each other.
Marion Cotillard gives an empathetic performance of a women beset with a sudden calamity who desperately tries to overcome the obstacles presented her. Matthias Schoenaerts plays the boxer wannabe pinned to the ropes of life having little luck struggling with a young son and few skills. As "Ali" pursues street fighting Stephanie becomes more attracted and involved in his brutal life.
There are moments of high predictability but it is always interesting to see a European POV.
